IBM 8272 Token Ring LAN Switch

The IBM 8272 Token Ring LAN Switch. The IBM 8272 is a stand-alone high speed switch which can be configured to alternate automatically between cut-through and store-and-forward switching. Two models are available, the IBM 8272-108 and the IBM 8272-216. The IBM 8272-108 is a 8 port unit (expandable to 12 ports) with (1) UFC module slot while the IBM 8272-216 is a 16 port unit (expandable to 24 ports) with (2)UFC modules slots. The UFC modules slots can be used for additional Token Ring ports or as ATM and FDDI uplink modules. The IBM 8272 automatically configures - just plug it in and the IBM 8272 is up and running. Further configure the IBM 8272 so that the ports can be allocated through to as many as eight different domains. Each IBM 8272 can support 1790 active MAC addresses per port and 10000 active MAC addresses per unit. ****Pictured above is the IBM 8272-108......you are able to see the UFC slot on the top right corner of the unit.
